Three Conclusions from the 14‑Segment Review

Conclusion 1: Wide divergence in growth rates across segments

High‑growth (10%+): Diabetic CGM, surgical robots, PFA electrophysiology, TAVR
Medium‑high (6‑8%): IVD, home healthcare, ophthalmic devices
Medium (4‑6%): Medical imaging, endoscopy, wound management, nephrology
Low (3‑4%): Orthopedic joints, selected traditional imaging segments

Selecting a market segment defines the growth trajectory for the coming decade.

Conclusion 2: Market concentration determines market accessibility

Hyper‑concentrated segments: The top four IVD players capture 50% market share; Intuitive Surgical takes 71% of surgical robots. For such markets, new entrants must rely on disruptive technological differentiation or target secondary markets such as Southeast Asia and Latin America.

Moderately concentrated segments: Top‑four orthopedic firms hold 52.5% share; top‑three vendors dominate patient monitoring. These markets are favorable entry points for domestic substitution.

Relatively fragmented tracks: Home healthcare, wound management, and selected IVD sub‑segments create opportunities for Chinese manufacturers to rapidly gain market share.

Conclusion 3: AI and PFA represent the two biggest reshaping variables for 2026‑2028

AI is evolving from a competitive bonus feature to a baseline requirement within IVD, endoscopy and medical imaging. The nascent PFA track triggers competitive realignment among Medtronic, Boston Scientific and Abbott.

Industry restructuring creates windows of opportunity for late‑stage Chinese entrants.
